Slow craft, thoughtfully woven

Loimi & Ko. was founded by Sarah Affleck in 2016, beginning life as a small weaving practice in her living room in Perth, Western Australia. After moving to the UK to study for a Diploma in Handweaving at the London Handweavers Studio, Sarah settled in Edinburgh, where she now creates and teaches from her studio in Leith.

Sarah’s weaving is inspired by the natural qualities, textures and colours of cloth. She works primarily with wool, silk, cotton and linen, with many of her yarns thoughtfully sourced from industry waste and surplus materials. Each piece is woven by hand, celebrating the beauty of traditional craft while exploring contemporary design.

Her handwoven work has been exhibited in group exhibitions across the UK and Europe, with a new body of work being presented at exhibitions throughout Scotland in 2026.

Alongside her studio practice, Sarah runs relaxed, hands-on weaving workshops from her Leith studio, welcoming beginners who want to slow down, learn the fundamentals of handweaving and create something beautiful with their own hands.
